Jon Eli Cox died, at the young age 58, of Kerrville, Texas, Sunday May 15, 2022. He was born to Thomas Eddy and Vivien Leigh (Steffler) Cox in Houston, Texas.

As a teenager, he worked at a frame shop building custom frames for photographs and paintings in Magnolia, Texas, which gave him the love of wood working. As a young man, his adventurous soul landed him on a motorcycle and arrived in Kerrville for various construction, building and remodeling homes in the Hill Country.

Because of his love of the Hill Country and the people, he decided to call this area his home. He knew no stranger, he was a friend to all.

Jon opened a custom cabinet shop, but realized his real passion was building homes. Over the years, he worked with many local contractors. As time went on, he decided to start his own building and remodeling company, J Cox Construction.

On May 17, 2014, Jon married the love of his life, Marian (Wahrmund) in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Jon had one special dream, to build their forever home. He almost completed it, but illness set him back before he could finish. God had a higher calling for our Jon.

He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and papa, with a heart of gold.

Jon is survived by wife of 8 years, Marian; son, Kyle (Sammie) Gallie of Kerrville; daughter, Savanna Vargas of Kerrville; and son, Blake Cox of Houston; grandchildren, Eddilyn DeMoss and Kayleigh Gallie, Valeri and Jakob Mireles, and Christian Vargas. He is also survived by his mother, Vivien and sister, Jennifer (Dion) Cruz of Houston; sister-in-law, Karen (Chuck) Storms of Kerrville, Dennis (Alice) Wahrmund of Kerrville; nieces, Lauren (Michael) James, Kendall Cox, Brandy Lovell and nephews, Trevin Cox, Shane (Erica) Wahrmund, Eric (Joy) Wahrmund, Brian (Kristian)Wahrmund, Richard (Melissa) Wahrmund. In addition, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews survive.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas; brothers, Carl Wayne, Thomas Michael and Jarred Cox; and mother-in-law, Kathryn Wahrmund and brother-in-law, Allan Wahrmund.

Graveside services for friends and family will be held Thursday May 26, 2022 at 11:00 am at Garden of Memories of Kerrville, Texas.

I'll forever be grateful to have met you, Johnny. You were like a dad to me growing up. I'll always remember the great memories with you and Savannah. Hot summers at the river with snow cones and you taking us to our soccer games on the weekends and dancing at Criders on Friday nights.
Heaven has gained a great man and you'll be deeply missed.
