Genia Joann Wilson (Jody) passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022 surrounded by her family in Kerrville, Texas. Jody was born in Beaumont, TX October 7, 1932 to Rufus and Agnes Bowers.

She lived in Beaumont for 60 years and attended French High School there. Jody was married to the late Elray Wilson for 62 years. She served as the church secretary in Beaumont, TX for many years. She was a very devoted mom to her 3 children, Steve, Tim, and Judy. Jody was active with their school, always helping when she could. Hosting their friends and youth group on a weekly basis was a common occurrence at their house. She was a servant to everyone she met, taking others under her wing, cooking meals, and making everyone feel included and truly loved. Having a passion for church and Christian Education, Elray and Jody established an Endowed Scholarship to support students at Harding University in Searcy, AR. Each semester multiple students benefit from their generous gift. A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, Jody loved teaching children's class at church. She was a supportive elders wife for over 3 decades. Elray and Jody both were active in supporting mission work in Australia, Africa, Ireland, and Guatemala, starting churches and spreading the gospel.

Jody is preceded in death by her husband Elray Wilson; her parents Rufus and Agnes Bowers; granddaughter Jamie Wilson; and brother Clayton Bowers.

Surviving loved ones include daughter Judy Walker (Doug) of Keller, TX; sons, Steve Wilson (Theresa) of Beaumont, TX and Tim Wilson (Janet) of Kerrville, TX; granddaughters, Lindsey Thomas (Jason), Ashley Blake (Jordan), Whitney Ellis (David), Nicole Wilson (Jack), and Corynn Wilson; great granddaughters, Addison Blake, Bailey Blake, Landry Thomas and Gemma Huang; and great grandsons, Knox Thomas, Wilson Ellis and John Huang.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 9, 2022, from 5-7 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Services will be held at 10 AM, Monday, October 10, 2022, at Riverside Church of Christ in Kerrville, TX. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

My beautiful Jody has entered Heaven's gate.
Jody always loved our family and we had some delicious meals at her house, prepared by her loving hands. She was the perfect hostess. I will always remember visiting her and her grand home and beautiful deer pastures. Most of all, I will miss Jody's beautiful spirit. She was a child of our Heavenly Father and she came bearing gifts of service to all she met. I will miss her, but know we will meet again on that glorious day when we all see the Lord together. I send my love and sympathy to all her children and their families, and to all who know and love her, including those Christians at Riverside Church of Christ. I am sure that Jody will be greeted with "Well done, good and faithful servant," by our Heavenly Father. Until we meet again, Jody, rest in the arms of our glorious Lord.

My deepest sympathy to Jody’s family.
My late husband, Maurice, and I were members of our travel group, Jacks and Jills. This is where we had the privilege of knowing the Wilsons.
I had called her not too long ago...
She and Elray were dear friends.

It was a joy and pleasure to have known Jody most of my life. As exceptional people can, she touched my life with her loving, carrying, and gentle ways, so she will remain in my heart always. In my mind I will forever see her with that wonderful smile, and then I will smile too. Jody and I shared a birthday date that we laughed together about. It will be a special gift to particularly remember Jody every year on October 7. At a time when we lose someone that is extraordinary, we are so sad because we loved so much. Blessings be upon all who knew her, but most abundantly on her children and grandchildren.
