Sarah Hunt passed away suddenly at her home in Harper, Texas on February 26. She was the daughter of the late Andrew M. Hunt and Carol Meehan Hunt of Providence, RI. Sarah was raised in Rhode Island, attended Elmhurst Academy, and graduated from The Wheeler School in Providence. As an accomplished pianist, she was accepted to the Peabody Institute of Music in Baltimore, MD which she attended for several years. She then matriculated at Sarah Lawrence College and upon graduation, went to work for Mitchell Hutchins, Inc. in New York as a financial analyst. During this time, she also earned a Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis on special needs children. Sarah eventually left Wall Street and moved to Texas to be with friends and to pursue a career in teaching.

Upon her retirement from teaching, Sarah was able to fully devote her time and energy to her passion for animals - specifically her dogs. She raised, trained, and competitively showed her champion Mastiffs and Berger Picards. Sarah is survived by her six siblings: Martha Hunt-Sexton of Wells, ME; Kevin M. Hunt of Naples, FL; Peter M. Hunt of Providence, RI; Andrea Hunt Denby of Providence, RI; Megan Hunt Stewart of Warner, NH; and James G. Hunt of South Kingston, RI. She is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews to whom she was a loving aunt.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 18 at the Grimes Funeral Chapels, 728 Jefferson Street, Kerrville, TX at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sarah's memory may be made to the Hill Country SPCA, 2981 S State Highway 16, Fredericksburg, TX 78624.

Sarah was one of our closer neighbors on our country road, and when we moved to Harper full-time, she welcomed us with a bottle of Patron tequila, showing us her generous nature. She and I shared a similar sense of humor and we had many laughs over the years. I miss passing and waving to her on the road, and miss knowing she's no longer tucked away in her cabin with her beloved animals.

I briefly met Sarah last year..... at a Berger Picard meet up. I met her, Piet and Annie. She was immediately helpful and friendly! She even brought my pup a toy... how sweet! We chit-chatted through Facebook but I wish I'd had more time to get to know her!
One of her beloved dogs, Annie, found her way to us after her passing. I only knew Sarah for a second but I'm so honored to have Annie with us. We will do our best to make Sarah proud and give Annie a happy and fulfilled life.
My condolences to all family, loved ones, and friends!

I met Sarah at a dog show several years ago. We were staying at the same hotel and struck up a conversation about dogs. That was the beginning of a great friendship that meant so much more than just the dog sports in which we participated. You were such a great friend. I will never forget you, Sarah. You are loved, and sorely missed.

Sarah was a great friend! We traveled the country with our dogs- dog shows, dog sports and we alway made it an adventure. Her love for dogs brought us together, her wonderful spirit made for a wonderful friendship. She was my cheerleader when I went back to college, education was so important to her. My life is so richer having met her. i Loved spending time on her ranch with her, it was her little slice of heaven and she loved to share it. Sarah, you were very loved.

We were neighbors. We were friends that went places together and visited throughout the day. She was a selfless person that loved her family. She was a Christian and treated others like she wanted to be treated.
She is missed already.
