Helen Hicks

Helen Louise (Moore) Hicks, of Medina, Texas, passed away on January 20, 2021, in Kerrville, Texas. She was born at Running Water, Texas, in Hale County to Nannie Mae (Finney) Moore and Charles Robert Moore on August 6, 1926. She married Wilson Vance (Bud) Hicks on October 5, 1947, in Medina, Texas.

Helen was a great lady of faith, who was known for her devotion to family and community. She graduated from Medina High School and went to business school in San Antonio, Texas. She worked in the personnel department at the Department of Public Safety in Austin, Texas. She retired from the State of Texas after over 20 years of service. She was involved in the Medina Garden Club, Bandera Garden Club, served as a board member at the Medina Community Library, and was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband Wilson Vance Hicks, her father, Charles Robert Moore, her mother, Nannie Mae (Finney) Moore, her brothers, Charlie A. Moore, Clarence F. Moore, Bill R. Moore, and her sister, Medina Brooks Goodenough.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Nancy Hicks Raumaker and husband, Keith of Rosanky, Texas; her son, Robert Vance Hicks and wife, Luanne of Boerne, Texas; brother, L. D. Moore of Medina, Texas; grandsons, Kevin Raumaker and wife, Karen of Katy, Texas; Brent Raumaker and wife Anna of Pearland, Texas; and Richard Hicks of Boerne, Texas; great-granddaughters, Madison Nicole Raumaker, Monica Celeste Raumaker, Aylah Lei Raumaker, and Michaela Helen Raumaker. She is also survived by her niece, Carole Goodenough; nephews, Bill Moore and Bob Moore; great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, and a great-great-great niece, as well as numerous cousins.

Viewing will take place from 9am to 11am , service at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera, Texas, with Allen Taha and Jim Keeter officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Crest Cemetery in Medina, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Raumaker, Brent Raumaker, Richard Hicks, David Haywood, Charles Haywood, James Sedillo, and Henry Abdullah.
Memorials may be given to the Medina Community Library and the Medina Volunteer Fire Department. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude and thanks to the doctors and nurses at Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville, Texas, for the wonderful care she received.
