Richard Todd Holcomb
9/25/1973 - 10/3/2022

It would be easy to look back upon the life of Richard Todd Holcomb and recognize his success as a remarkable husband, father, son, brother, businessman and friend. By anyone’s measurement, his life was full of accomplishment and investment into the people he loved and served. Anyone who even briefly knew Richard immediately recognized his quiet strength and wisdom. However, the defining qualities of Richard’s life reflected what he believed and Who he believed in.

Richard and his twin brother, Michael, were born Sept. 25, 1973, in Houston, Texas, and were treasured by their parents, Richard and Glenda Holcomb. In 1981, the family moved to the Hill Country where the boys graduated from Ingram Tom Moore High School. Richard continued his education at Howard Payne University, graduating with a degree in business in 1996.

After graduation Richard made a successful life in the corporate world in California, but his love for his family and the Hill Country brought him back to work alongside his father and follow in his footsteps and learn his successful skills in real estate ranch development. Richard’s objective eye, commitment to quality and ability to clearly execute a vision were among the many traits he possessed in his desire to carry on his father’s legacy and business.

In 2005, Richard met the love of his life, Cristina Cawthon, and the couple married on April 29, 2006. Richard and Cristina became proud parents to Richard Todd III in 2008 and Jackson Alexander in 2012. While Richard and Cristina’s love for one another is eternal, before Richard went to be with the Lord on Oct. 3, their faith in God gave them assurance that their separation would be only temporary.

In his leisure time, Richard was an avid golfer, hunter, master diver and musician. And while Richard had many successful business endeavors and many fulfilling interests, his most treasured time was spent with his boys, Richard Todd and Jackson.

Without question, Richard’s sons were his greatest source of pride, and spending time with them and Cristina took precedence over any other pursuit in his life. The boys learned by the example their father set for them and emulate Richard’s strength of character. Richard Todd reflects his dad’s gentle spirit and happy disposition, and Jackson mirrors his astute objectivity and savvy wit. Both boys watched their father fight for his life and trust God with his future, leaving a legacy of grit and determination, understanding that God will forever be in control.

Despite what often appeared to be insurmountable challenges and sickness during the latter part his life, Richard’s faith in God remained unshakeable and unwavering. When it would have been easy to give up or blame God, never once did Richard complain or believe he was a victim to a disease. Rather than be defined by his trials, he chose for his life to be defined by the innumerable ways that God had miraculously rescued him and remained faithful to him. Richard’s courageous test of faith proved that his life would result in bringing glory and honor to God.

His favorite scripture was 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Even during his darkest hour, he chose to honor God with his life and worship Him in his last breaths.

Richard’s generous spirit was reflected in his faithfulness to “give and it will be given.” His life was lived in obedience to God and the rich rewards of what he gave through deep personal sacrifice will continue to be given to those who survive him — his wife, Cristina; his sons, Richard Todd and Jackson; his parents, Richard and Glenda Holcomb; his brother, Michael and wife Janett;, nephew, Michael Jr.; and nieces, Hannah and Brissa; and his sister, LaJuana and her husband Gregg Post.

Richard’s commitment to his faith touched many lives, and his relentless devotion to God will continue to bear fruit now and through eternity.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Hunt Japonica Cemetery, Hunt, Texas, officiated by Will Hart.
