John William Marmor, 90, of Castroville, Texas passed away on October 26, 2023, at Le Parc Safe Haven Home in Castroville, Texas. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 23, 1933, to Louise and Joseph Marmor.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Avanelle Marmor; and son, Mark Marmor.

He is survived by his son, Kevin Marmor, wife Lucretia, and their daughter Elizabeth; and his 2nd wife of 35 years, Jeanne Marmor.

John went to Jefferson High School, attended A&M University his freshman year in college, and was in the Corp; and he graduated with a business degree from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. He was an Eagle Scout, and in the DeMolay and Lion’s Club. John was active in the Army for 20 years from 1956-1976. He served in Vietnam and Korea, retiring as a highly decorated Lieutenant Colonel with many awards including a Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/ V Device, Air Metal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Legion of Merit, Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/ Bronze Star and a Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm.

John lived most of his life in Kerrville, Texas where he was very active. He was a sales manager at Benson Motor Company and sold cars for Harold Bryant Motors. He worked delivering mail for the USPS in Kerrville. He also made people happy by delivering flowers for Especially Yours Flower Shop. John was a referee for football and basketball games for Kerrville’s Junior High and High Schools. He was an usher and was the supervisor for the building of the First Christian Church. He loved music and golf. He played guitar and banjo for the Guadalupe Jazz Band and the Windmill Ridge Band.

Services for family and friends will begin at 2:00 P.M., February 12th, 2024 at Fort Sam, in San Antonio.
