Linda Lee Felten

Linda Lee Felten, 83, passed away peacefully Friday, December 15, 2023, at her longtime Bandera home, surrounded by loved ones. She was the widower of Kenneth Felten, survived by her sister, Sherrie Jolin, and husband Dave Jolin; brother in law, Bob Felten and wife Donna Felten; daughters, Dina Buettner and husband Karl Buettner, Shayne Brown, and Tracy Rhodes, and husband Rocky Rhodes; and her grandchildren, Davis Buettner, and wife Sydney Buettner, Hannah Buettner, Gunnar Brown, Gage Brown, Stoney Rhodes, Stella Brown, and Stormy Rhodes; and great-grandchildren, Hudson Buettner, and Henry Buettner; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Born November 15, 1940, at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, she was the eldest daughter of Irving “Yoyo” Sherer and Helen Sherer. She graduated high school in 1958, and enjoyed a long career as a Bank Teller for over 50 years, where she cherished the personal bonds she created with her customers and coworkers.

Linda met her husband, Ken, as a sophomore in high school, and they wed two years after graduation on May 21, 1961. They enjoyed a 59-year marriage. She was his “one and only,” as he wrote on the high school portrait he gave her, and on Valentine’s cards shortly before his death. Together, they were enthusiastic parents, driving their children all over the state of Texas to attend rodeos, and later devoted grandparents, attending almost every sporting event their seven grandchildren participated in.

Linda enjoyed fishing, was an avid reader, and made the best pecan pie in the Hill Country. Beyond her grandchildren’s sporting events, she was a fervent fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Michael Jordan, and she loved to gamble, especially in Vegas. She was a regular at Rosa’s Hair Studio in Bandera, rarely, if ever, missing a hair appointment, and could always be seen with a freshly done set of her signature terracotta-colored nails.

She is remembered for her protective nature over her family, her cunning wit and strategic mind, her unbreakable resiliency, and her poise. She was an advocate for the underdog, and a shining example of what it means to be steadfast in your personal values. She retained her cutting sense of humor until her final days. She is missed dearly.

Memorial services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Grace Lutheran Church in Bandera.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Lutheran Church of Bandera, or St. Jude Children's Hospital in her honor.
