Juana Lopez Mejia

Juana Lopez Mejia of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, after a long battle with Breast Cancer. She was born in Piedras Negras, Coah., Mexico, to Moises Gonzalez Lopez and Candelaria Sanchez Flores on May 10, 1950.

She married Oscar Mejia on June 1, 1974, in Rio Escondido, Coah., Mexico.

Juana worked for over 40 years as a housekeeper until 10 years ago when her battle with Breast Cancer began. Her favorite pass times were enjoying quality time with family and friends, cooking, singing, playing loteria, telling jokes, crocheting, she loved her telenovelas and reading her Bible.

Juana was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, and community.

She will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Moises Lopez and Candelaria Flores; stepmother, Guadalupe Balderrama; brother, Adan Lopez; and her bonus dad, Daniel Arriaga.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Oscar Mejia of Kerrville; son, Ricardo Mejia (Sarah); daughters, Beatriz Kutzer (Dwain) and Rocio Mejia (Toby Brown); sisters, Juanita B. Ortega, Soledad Fernandez, Rosario Lopez, Leticia Rodriguez and Guadalupe Salazar; brother, Jose Baca; six grandchildren, Tyler, Abigail, Caden, Shelby, Gabriela and Cora; two great-grandchildren, Macias Arreola and Beckett Mejia; God son, Joe Gomez; honorary mother, Carolina Arriaga; honorary sons, Luke Parish, Jerry Reyna and Jorge Dorado; numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Visitation will be from 4-6 PM, Monday January 22, 2024, followed by the Rosary at 6PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Funeral services will be held at 10AM Tuesday January 23, 2024, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Pastor Del Way. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ricardo Mejia, Tyler Mejia, Dwain Kutzer, Caden Mejia, Toby Brown, Julio Arreola and Jorge Dorado.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Peterson Hospice, especially Charleen McGowan for her tender loving care she provided to our mother and to all that provided support during this difficult time.
