Sharon Chamblee Morris
8/16/1944 - 1/29/2024

Our beloved mother, Sharon Chamblee Morris, 79 years old, died on Monday, January 29, 2024, after 13 years with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on August 16, 1944, to Douglas Troy Tabor and Clara Elizabeth Tabor.

From there, she lived in many states as well as abroad, as her father was in the Air Force. She graduated high school in 1962 in Wiesbaden, Germany. After graduation, she came back to the States by herself to go to nursing school in Roanoke, Virginia and became a registered nurse. While working as a floor nurse at Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen, Texas, she met our father William C. Chamblee, M.D., when he spotted a beautiful young nurse at the hospital where he worked as well. They were married in 1970 and were married for 37 years until his death.

Once her two daughters were born shortly after marriage, Sharon became a stay-at-home mom and bookkeeper for our father’s anesthesia practice.

They bought property and built a house on the North Prong in Medina, Texas with plans of retirement one day. When they eventually moved to Medina, Sharon was very involved in the First Baptist Church where she was treasurer for several years and made many dear friends for life. She was in the choir and often sang solos with her daughter Lisa accompanying her on the organ.

Once her youngest daughter Rebecca was a junior in high school, Sharon decided to get back into the workforce and was the office nurse for local pediatrician Clarence Donald, M.D. in Kerrville. After working for Dr. Donald, she became the school nurse at the Medina Independent School District and eventually the business manager for over 20 years.

Sharon remarried in 2013 after she had gotten reacquainted with a man she knew from when her family lived in California. They lived together in Medina at the family homestead only for a few years before selling and moving to Kerrville.

Sharon leaves behind her current spouse, Leland Morris, and their dog Joy, as well as her two daughters, Lisa Chamblee and Rebecca Carter, and her only granddaughter, Emerson Carter.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Garden of Memories Cemetery, officiated by Rev. John Wheat.

Thanks to the Peterson Hospice team and caregivers that took care of her during these last few months.
