Barbara Anne Reid

Barbara Anne Reid of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on February 1, 2024, in Kerrville, Texas. She was born in Haynesville, Louisiana to Russell Hodge Dawson and Fairly Ruth Dawson on November 19, 1938. She married Austin Reid on March 11, 1983, in Anchorage, Alaska.

She received her entire education in Haynesville. She graduated from Haynesville High School. Her beloved Golden Tornados.

Barbara worked as an executive assistant for many years at the University of Alaska Anchorage Cooperative Extension Service. She was able to retire early in her life and she and Austin moved out of Alaska, back to the South where they both were raised. They traveled extensively throughout the world enjoying their freedom from working and raising kids before settling in Kerrville.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Russell Hodge Dawson; her mother, Fairly Ruth Dawson; and her brother, Jimmy Dawson.

Survivors include spouse, Austin Reid; children, Don Fowler, Laurie Fowler, Steve Fowler, Brett Reid, Lance Reid and Michael Reid; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; niece, Missy Dawson; nephew, Mike Dawson; and sister-in-law, Betsy Dawson.

There will be no services.

The family wishes to thank the River Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center and Peterson Hospice for their loving care of our wife/mom.
