Margaret "Mag" Barker
4/9/1940 - 8/28/2024

Margaret Ann “Mag” Barker, 84, of Medina, passed away on August 28, 2024, in Kerrville, Texas. She was born in Junction, Texas to Clifford and Margaret Goodwin Hamer on April 9, 1940. She married Clovis Barker on August 20, 1958, in Junction, Texas.

Mag went to school at Junction High School. She played basketball and was in the marching band where she later became Drum Major. She graduated in 1958 and married Clovis Ray Barker shortly after and they were blessed enough to celebrate 66 years of marriage.

She served her family as a housewife and raised two daughters and many, many animals. Mag enjoyed bowling, tennis, aerobics, playing bridge, photography, and interior-design. She took pleasure in working for the Walk to Emmaus ministry and was also very involved with the Medina Community Church remodel, where she headed up the kitchen detail for years. She loved giving the children of Deer Creek Camp the chance to enjoy God’s great outdoors on the family ranch for many summers. It blessed both the children of the camp and the Barker Family as well. She adored her bible-study ladies and Warrenton shopping trips with her closest sisters in Christ. She loved the mountains and the cool summers in Ruidoso. Because of her fondness of mountain views the family will have a special celebration with Mag on her favorite hillside “her spot” at the ranch at a later date.

Mag was preceded in death by parents, Clifford and Margaret Hamer; and brother, Clifford Hamer Jr.

Survivors include husband, Clovis Ray Barker; daughters, Debbie Graham and husband Greg,
Julie Hill and husband Darrell; grandchildren, Koby Polk and wife, Kourtney, Shelby Pape and husband, Dillon, Katilyn Pummill and husband, Anthony, Tanner Hill and wife, Ashlee, and Grant Graham; six great-grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; and numerous other family and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, September 6, 2024, at Medina Community Church with Pastor Bill Stegemeuller officiating.

Memorials may be given to Peterson Hospice in Kerrville, Texas and Medina Community Church in Medina, Texas.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Peterson Hospice, the wonderful staff at Heart & Stone House in Kerrville and Peterson Hospital ICU.
