Lucien Casper Freedle
5/10/1931 - 11/8/2024

Lucien Casper Freedle, aged 93, passed away peacefully in his home on November 8, 2024. Lucien was born in Villa Grove, Colorado on May 10, 1931, to parents Lucien and Elsie (Whipp) Freedle. He was married to Patricia Lee (Shannon) Freedle on November 5, 1971, in Albuquerque, NM.

Lucien graduated from Central High School and Pueblo Junior College in Pueblo, Colorado. He studied Political Science at the University of Colorado in Boulder and subsequently earned a degree in accounting from the University of New Mexico. Lucien was a Certified Life Underwriter at New York Life before becoming a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Planner. His accounting career spanned 30 years, including 23 years in private practice in Kerrville. Lucien was friendly, generous and a man of great integrity who took an active role in the Kerrville business community until his retirement in 1999.

Lucien was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, a member of the Kerrville Rotary Club and a two term KISD School Board Member. He also served on the board of the Guadalupe River Improvement Project, was a founding board member of the 3H Youth Ranch for boys and a board member of the Turner House Sober Living Program.

During his free time, he enjoyed travelling in Mexico and Costa Rica as well as fly fishing and playing tennis with his doubles partner, Lee. In his retirement, he studied painting with artist Steve Quiller for several years. Lucien himself became quite an accomplished artist with his paintings accepted for inclusion in many juried shows in Colorado and Texas. He was awarded coveted status as a Signature Member of the Colorado Watercolor Society.

He was a godly man who dedicated his life to raising his children with his soul mate, Lee. Always taking interest in whatever interested his children, he was patient, attentive and led by example. He taught them the importance of honesty, hard work and to pursue their interests with passion. He loved his wife deeply and was always up for an adventure. They had many.

Lucien was one of the initial organizers of Little Dribblers Youth Basketball in Kerrville and enjoyed coaching teams on which his children played. He was a fan of Tivy High School sports where his children and many of his grandchildren played on various teams over the years. He also loved to spend time with them in Creede, Colorado, sharing his love of painting and chasing brook trout in the high mountain streams.

Lucien was preceded in death by his sister, Eileen; brother, Ron; and daughter, Kelley Ann.

Survivors include his wife, Lee; three sons, Shannon and wife Lorraine (Razzi), Patrick and wife Nancy (Geer), and Bo and wife Melanie (Roden); eleven grandchildren, Ryan, Angelica, Brennan, Caroline, Brice, Cooper, Hudson, Casper, Isabelle, Dakota and Dillon; three great-grandchildren, Maya Luna, Lena Catherine and Tashi Lucien; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, November 29th at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with the Reverend Bert Baetz officiating.
