Mike graduated from Tom C. Clark High School in San Antonio in 1981 where he enjoyed playing football and being a member of the FFA. While in school, he also worked many hours at the food chain Piggly Wiggly, a family business, with his brother and parents where he helped to set up stores and stock the shelves.

He had many stories of his time while stationed at El Toro in San Diego, CA and from when he served in Iwakuni, Japan. Mike also completed some college at Central Texas College while enlisted as a Marine. Soon after returning home, Mike began his career in Food Sales which spanned over the next 30 years. He served in many aspects of the food industry and traveled frequently through the southeast region of the U.S.
Mike was a good soul, kind, funny, and had a great laugh. He loved his sons and family and enjoyed watching his boys play sports and also coached their little league basketball teams. He was the best father to his sons and a wonderful Uncle Mike to his nieces and nephews. He loved to listen to his albums, work in the yard, enjoy the ranch in the Hill Country, and he loved God.
