Willie Mae Weigle
5/7/1923 - 11/27/2024
Willie Mae (Tommy) Weigle, 101, of Kerrville, TX, passed away on November 27, 2024, in Kerrville. She was born in Brownwood, TX to Charles Carlos Thomas and Myrtle (New) Thomas on May 7, 1923. She married Orville Curtis (Curt) Weigle on May 31, 1946, and remained married until Curt passed away in 2003.
Tommy went to school at and graduated from Brownwood High School. After marrying and settling in Houston, TX, she worked as an executive secretary for Texaco in Houston, TX until she left that position to move out of the country with Curt for his job. After several years abroad, they retired to Kerrville in 1980. Tommy served as a dedicated Sunday School teacher for many years and continued that service at First Baptist Church of Kerrville when she and Curt retired. She was blessed with a long life with many friends she loved and who loved her in return, and she had the mixed blessing of outliving most of them.
Tommy was preceded in death by her husband and by a baby boy that died shortly after birth. Survivors include her son David Weigle and spouse Mace Welch, and multiple nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.
Visitation will be at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Kerrville.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Garden of Memories Cemetery with Rev. Joey Tombrella officiating.
Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Kerrville, TX.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff and volunteers of Peterson Hospice, to the staff and volunteers of the senior/homebound ministry of First Baptist Church of Kerrville, to neighbor Linda Morton whose assistance over the long haul was invaluable, and to all those who provided care and concern to Tommy.
