Sherry Ople Matthews Fisher

Sherry Ople Matthews Fisher, 76, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on December 22, 2024. She was born July 27th, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, to Neal Matthews and Marjorie Clark. Sherry grew up in Bandera and Medina, where she attended high school and formed many lifelong friendships.
Sherry enjoyed a fulfilling career in sales, working passionately to excel in her roles. Her career included positions at Rick’s Furniture in Kerrville, Stower’s Furniture in San Antonio, and as a manufacture representative for Ashley Furniture Industries, where she had the unique opportunity to work alongside two of her sons across South Texas. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sherry was a devoted Christian who cherished Bible study groups and found joy in connecting with others through faith.
Her greatest pride and joy were her family. She was a wonderful mother that did endless tasks to help her children. She adored her eight grandchildren and one great-grandson, attending their events whenever possible and celebrating their achievements. In her younger years, Sherry was an avid bowler who participated in numerous leagues. More recently, she dedicated herself to researching and preserving her family’s ancestry, leaving behind a rich legacy of information and photographs spanning multiple generations.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Neal Matthews; and her son, Felix Fisher.
She is survived by her sons, Trey Fisher (Michele) and Shawn Fisher; her half-sister, Patty Neale; grandchildren, Brianna Mocio (Nick), Baylan Fisher, Brooke Fisher, Renee Fisher, Westin Fisher, Kila Fisher, William Fisher, Cade Fisher; and great-grandson, Maddox Mocio.
Visitation will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels on Sunday, December 29th, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
A funeral service will follow on Monday, December 30th, at 10:00 a.m., also at Grimes Funeral Chapels, with interment at Fisher Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Trey Fisher, Shawn Fisher, Baylan Fisher, Westin Fisher, William Fisher, Nick Mocio, Durant Frantzen, Kervin Lewis, Razor Dobbs, Chuck Lemmond, Stacy Enterline, Paul Woody, Pat Wood, and Earl Hashaw.
Memorial contributions may be made to Peterson Hospice or charity of choice.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who supported Sherry during her health challenges and to the close friends who stood by her side.
May Sherry’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
