Charles "Chuck" Henry Wolfmueller

Charles “Chuck” Henry Wolfmueller, was born in Kerrville to Albert & Charlotte (née Bach) on July 6, 1947. He was the middle brother to older brother Jon and younger twin sisters Jean and Joan. He was called a Christian and born again in the waters of Holy Baptism on October 3, 1948 at Zion Lutheran Church, Kerrville. He was called to the Lord’s Supper and Confirmed in his faith on Good Friday, April 15, 1960, also at Zion. His confirmation verse is John 10:27: Jesus says, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”

Chuck graduated from Tivy High School in 1965, and the University of Texas in Austin in 1969 (Aerospace Engineering) and 1970 (Business). He moved back to Kerrville to work at James Avery Craftsman.

He married Allenda Walyece McCutchen on January 11, 1975 at First Baptist Church, Kerrville, a union of 50 years, 3 months, and four days, that was blessed with three boys and eight grandchildren. Chuck (also known as “Ol’ Dad” and “Opa”) loved and cared for his family, his wife Allenda, his boys Bryan, Philip, and Thomas, their wives and his eight grandchildren, his siblings, cousins, nephews and nieces and their families. He wrote a note in his funeral plan, “I pray that the names of my family are written in the book of life in Jesus’ name.”

His career in jewelry manufacturing extended 53 years, and took his family around the country and Chuck around the world. He worked at James Avery (Kerrville), The Bell Group (Albuquerque, NM, where Bryan met Keri), Stuller (Lafayette, LA, where Thomas met Michelle), and Fire Mountain Gems (Grants Pass, OR, where Philip met Layne). He was a problem solver and creative thinker. He lived by one of the mottos he often repeated to the boys, “Learn from everyone, think for yourself.”

Chuck was very active in his church, serving as president and Elder for years. He was faithful in Bible Class and Men’s Bible Studies. He loved the Lutheran clarity of the distinction of Law and Gospel. The margins of his Bible are filled with notes.

Chuck was the family historian. He traced the Wolfmueller family back as far as he could. He knew how he was related to everyone in Kerr County. In 2017, in St. Thomas Church in Eisenach, Germany, he sorted out how his mom’s family, the Bach’s, were related to Johann Sebastian Bach. (They were cousins, not direct descendants.)

Chuck was a good friend with interesting ideas and good humor and, it has been reported by someone from poker night, “Won more big pots than anyone I knew.” He loved to travel and see something new. His memory was astonishing, and he could recall details of events years later.

Chuck and Allenda moved from Oregon back to Texas in 2022 after his Pancreatic Cancer diagnosis. He fought off the cncer for three and a half years.

Chuck passed from death to life on his Confirmation Day, April 15, 2025, at home, surrounded by family, friends, and the Lord’s Word.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jon.

He is survived by his wife Allenda, his three sons: Bryan (Keri) of Round Rock, Philip (Layne) of Corpus Christi, Thomas (Michelle) of Midland, eight grandchildren: Hannah (Isaac) Bolen of Houston, Andrew (Rebekah), Daniel, and Isaac, all of Round Rock, Charlotte, William, and Henry, all of Midland, and Aven of Corpus Christi, one great-grandson, due in July, and sisters Joan (Jim) Miller, and Jean Weber, mother-in-law, Gracie McCutchen, and sisters-in-law Sandy Wolfmueller and Cathy Horgan, all of Kerrville, and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.

The funeral service which Chuck carefully planned will be at Resurrection Lutheran Church (2215 Llano St, Fredericksburg, TX 78624) at 11 am Saturday, April 26, 2025. A viewing at church begins one hour before the service. Committal service is at 2:30 pm the same day at the Garden of Memories cemetery (3250 Fredericksburg Rd, Kerrville, TX 78028). Chuck had his tombstone engraved with the promise: “Awaiting the resurrection.” All are invited to attend the funeral and committal service.

Chuck’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Andrew, Daniel, Isaac, Henry, and William Wolfmueller, and Isaac Bolen.

It has pleased Almighty God to call from this veil of tears to be with Himself in heaven the soul of our brother Charles Henry Wolfmueller, who departed this life April 15 in the year of our Lord 2025, having attained the age of 77 years, 9 months, and 9 days.
