Jane Elizabeth Porter

Jane Elizabeth Porter, 87, of Kerrville, passed away on May 25th in San Marcos, Texas. She was born in Longview, Texas to Eugene E. Reynolds and Dorothy Y. Reynolds on July 6, 1937. She married Dean Franklin Porter on June 28, 1957, in Big Spring, Texas.
Her family moved to Big Spring, Texas where she grew up and graduated from Big Spring High School after-which, in pursuit of her desire to study and practice nursing, graduated from the University of Texas Nursing School in Galveston, Texas as a Registered Nurse. She practiced nursing for many years in hospitals, the private sector and as a school nurse in several Texas school districts. Accompanying her husband she traveled the world, having lived Internationally in Jakarta, Indonesia; Aberdeen, Scotland; London, England; Hong Kong; and Shekou, China, in addition to locations in the U.S. including Roanoke, Corpus Christi, Kingsville, Premont, and McAllen, Texas; Paoli, Pennsylvania; and Denver, Colorado. Her travels, both here and abroad, expanded her appreciation of various cultures and her willingness to help people. She was involved in many activities, especially those that involved her children while growing up, and enjoyed volunteering to teach English in the different countries she was fortunate enough to have lived in.
She and Dean retired to the Texas Hill Country, settling at Tierra Linda Ranch in Kerrville, Texas in 1992 where she engaged in many activities over the years. Activities she was proud to have been involved with included serving on the Harper ISD Board, The Kathleen C. Cailloux City Center for the Performing Arts, her church (First Presbyterian Church), a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, and volunteering at Sid Peterson’s hospital when possible. She also enjoyed other activities such as playing bridge, mahjong, dominoes but was truly happy to just enjoy the company of her family and the local and broader community.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Dorothy Reynolds; her brothers, Eugene and Whitney; and son-in-law, Eduardo Aizpuru.
She is survived by her husband, Dean F. Porter; their children, Steve Porter (wife Traci), Greg Porter (wife Pam), and Beth Porter; her four grandchildren, Dean (wife Kayla), Taylor (wife Amanda), Brad and Kyle; her two great-grandchildren, John and Corbyn; her brother-in law, Lewis (wife Sandy) and their three children Angie, Lisa and Jim (since decd); her sister-in law, Lynn (since decd) and her three children Mike, Debra and Christi.
A memorial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday July 12, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville, 800 Jefferson St, Kerrville, TX 78028, followed by a private family service at the church Columbarium.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the people with Heart to Heart Hospice for the medical and personal care they provided. Thanks also to Senior Path Specialists for the daily care they provided, especially to Sergio Ramirez.
