Betty Lou Lackey

Elizabeth Louise "Betty Lou" Beal Lackey of Center Point, Texas went to be with her Lord on June 24, 2025. She was born to J. Miller and Katie Smith Beal on December 23, 1932, in Lone Elm, Kansas.

Betty attended school in Kansas, Colorado, and Texas. The family moved from Kansas to Cypress-Fairbanks area where she graduated 8th grade. She continued there through her sophomore year. She moved to Verde Valley Ranch where she went to school in Center Point her Junior and most of her Senior year. They moved to Fountain, Colorado in March of 1951 where she graduated from high school.

Her future husband, T.H. "Butch" Lackey, went to Colorado for her graduation and on the way back to Texas, they were married in Raton, New Mexico on May 25, 1951. They came back to the home place on Verde Creek and eventually built their home where they raised their six children. She had 73 years of raising children and grandchildren. She worked for some twenty years for Brink's Brangus, Mr. Gattis, and Hill Country Radiology. She finished her career working for Cornerstone Business Solutions. She had the privilege of being a caregiver for her mother and father and Butch's mother.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 63 years, Butch; her father, J. Miller Beal and mother, Katie Smith Beal; her brother, Jerry Beal; sister, Karen Novian and her husband Johnny; brothers-in-law, Volley Tyler and Rusty Baker; sister-in-law, LaRue Beal; daughter, Katie Fiedler and husband James; daughter, Glenda Lackey; grandson, TJ Lackey; and her great-granddaughter, Piper Harris.

She is survived by her four remaining children, Tommy Lackey, Center Point, TX, Terry Lockaby (Robert) Kerrville, TX, Ronny (Brenda) Harper, TX; and Larrel Lackey (Pollen), Center Point, TX; sisters, Jo Baker, Odessa, TX, Irene Tyler, Waller, TX; and brother, Miller Dean Bill, Gainesville, TX. She is survived by 33 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She had numerous nieces and nephews.

She would like to be remembered as a person who loved God and trusted in His word in all circumstances. She loved her family and community. She was a charter member of Trinity Church in Center Point as well as the Center Point Preservation Area Society. She was also a member of the Lion's Club. She was an avid sports fan and loved the Pirates and the Tivy Antlers.

The family would like to thank Peterson Hospice, Julie, Linda, Rachel and Michelle for their dedication to Mom. You were the greatest.

Contributions can be made to Peterson Hospice, The Kerr Country Stock Show Association, or Trinity Church.

Services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, June 30,2025, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, with interment in the Camp Verde Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM before the service.

Pallbearers will be Brian Compton, Jason Lackey, Rance Ward, Cody Lackey, Armand Lockaby and Jesse Ugarte. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Balser, Shelby Fiedler, Lance Ward, Chance Ward, Joel Fiedler, Avery Fiedler, Mason Lackey and Paul Harris.
