Betty Margaret Roark
10/14/1951 - 10/31/2025
Betty Margaret Flach Roark, 74, a fourth generation descendant of a Comfort, Texas pioneer family, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on October 31, 2025. She passed away peacefully at her home after fighting a brave battle with cancer for over two years.
Betty was born at Peterson Hospital in Kerrville on October 14, 1951, the daughter of Harry P. and Margaret Louise Conn Flach. She grew up on the family ranch, where she rode horses, helped her dad on the ranch, and could fix anything!
She married Herman C. Roark on October 10, 1981, in San Antonio, Texas. Together, along with Curtis Hunt, they began TRC Engineering Services. She performed many functions including office manager, billing clerk, engineering drawings, and was a warm presence, welcoming clients, and could even make coffee!
Betty was a cradle Episcopalian at St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Comfort where she was a member of the Bell Choir and Altar Guild, Treasurer, Clerk and Senior Warden. She and her husband, Herman, later became Anglicans and joined St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church in Kerrville. There, Betty was again very active serving her Lord by being Senior Warden twice, a member of the Altar Guild, and head of the church decorating committee. She was also a member of the Bible Study Federation for Women for seven years. Betty also loved teaching children about Jesus Christ.
She is preceded in death, not only by her parents and siblings, but by a stepson, Richard Roark; and a step-granddaughter, Heather Roark.
Betty is survived by her loving husband, Herman; a son, William Pannell, of Mobile, Alabama; a brother, Steven P. Flach, of Katy, Texas; two stepsons, Gregory Roark of Leesville, Louisiana and Anthony Roark of Boerne, Texas; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; along with a host of dear friends who loved her deeply.
The family will receive guests at a Memorial Visitation to be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels on Monday, December 1st from Five O’clock until Seven O’clock in the evening. A Funeral Service will take place beginning at Ten O’clock in the morning, at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, 2015 Singing Wind Drive, Kerrville, Texas, on Tuesday, December 2nd. Officiating will be The Rt. Rev. Julian Dobbs, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the Living Word, with The Rev. Dan Jones, Rector, assisting. A reception will follow at the church.
The committal will be private for the family only, at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville, where her body will await the Resurrection.
