Doris Nan Cox

Doris Nan Cox, 77, of Kerrville, TX, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, surrounded by her family at her residence. She was born on August 21, 1948, in Tulia, TX, to Loyd and Pauline Heim. She married the love of her life David Cox on July 2, 1967, at First Baptist Church Kerrville.

Doris loved sharing stories from the early years of her life living on the edge of the Palo Duro Canyon where her dad worked on the Tule Ranch. After moving to Kerrville in 1952, she attended Tivy Elementary, Tivy Junior High, and graduated from Tivy High School in 1966. Doris went on to become a beautician and shop owner servicing the Kerrville area for several decades before her health forced her to retire in 2000.

Doris was a devoted Christian who cherished her Bible and the teachings of Jesus. She attended First Baptist Church Kerrville until her health prevented her from doing so. Over the last decade, she and her husband enjoyed worshiping online with of Reverend Stanley of In Touch Ministries. Her favorite Bible verses were Romans 8:28: "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called to His purpose." and Deuteronomy 29:29 "The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law." Her Christian values informed every aspect of her life and molded her into the beloved person she was.

Doris was preceded in death by her stillborn twin baby girl, parents Loyd and Pauline Heim and in-laws JD and Mae Cox. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years David Cox of Kerrville, TX, daughters Suzette (Chris) Ingersoll of Richmond, TX, and Nanette (Michael) Magrill of Round Rock, TX, sister Betty Welwood of Skiatook, OK, grandchildren Shea (Amber) Ingersoll of Bryan, TX, Ty Ingersoll of Richmond, TX, Jordan Ingersoll of Richmond, TX, Cade (Gabi) Ingersoll of College Station, TX, Clara Grace Magrill of Round Rock, TX, Rowan Magrill of Round Rock, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Grimes Funeral Chapels with the Rev. Frankie Enloe officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be sons-in-laws Chris Ingersoll and Michael Magrill and grandchildren Shea, Ty, Jordan and Cade Ingersoll. Honorary pallbearers will be twin granddaughters Clara Grace and Rowan Magrill, as well as neighbor and friend Isiah Reed.

Her family would like to thank all the medical staff who have shown her compassion and care and all the people who have prayed for her over the last 26 years.
