I'm just now learning of John's passing (6/'23). He and I went to basic training together, and more roommates, at Fort Dix New Jersey city. He was stationed in Arlington Virginia in the 3rd US infantry (The Old Guard), 10 miles from where I grew up. I was initially stationed at Fort Sam houston, San Antonio texas, just several miles from where he grew up. We visited each other's homes, and met each other's families. I remember very fondly when he came home on leave, and he and I and his older brother one of his friends from UT went up to the ranch together for a weekend. He will be missed, but NOT forgotten.
