Allen Ray Hood, age 79 of Barksdale,TX, passed away on September 6, 2022 in Kerrville. He was born in Santa Rita, Grant County, NM to Arvel and Opal Hood on July 2, 1943. He married Sandra Kay Pitts on February 24, 1967 in Bayard, NM.
He graduated from Cobre High School in Bayard, NM before going to a trade school in Albuquerque, NM specializing in electronics. He was a veteran and served in the Air Force stationed in Bermuda and Florida. He was a member of the Nueces Canyon Church of Christ and his forte was song leading. He was an avid fisherman and taught fly tying and fly rod making.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Arvel and Opal Holland Hood; his brother-in-law, Gerald Stockstill; and sisters-in-law, Sue Isbell Hood and Goldie Mason Hood.
Survivors include wife, Sandra Hood; brother, Charles Hood of Hurley, NM; two sisters, Patsy Stockstill of Midland, TX and Ruth Sears and husband, Bob, of Andrews, TX.
His memorial service was held at the Nueces Canyon Church of Christ in Camp Wood, Texas on Sunday, September 11, 2022 with Terry Creech and Chris Watson officiating. He chose to be cremated.
