The middle child of three sisters, Eleonore was born on October 26, 1934 in Kaufbeuren, Germany to Martina and Heinrich Neururer. Her formative years were spent in Kaufbeuren during World War II. In Germany, Eleonore met and married army sergeant Curley Day, Jr.; then emigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Shirley, MA. In an era of stay-at-home mothers, Eleonore overcoming a language barrier and many hardships worked at a paper factory, rope factory and other jobs to help raise their five children Curley Ray Day, III., Yvonne Day Lorick, Yvette Day Kyle, Danette Verna Day and Eric Martin Day.
Eleonore moved to Kerrville in 1977. Upon arriving to the Hill Country, she worked at JC Penney's, then Eleonore found employment at Sid Peterson Hospital and eventually provided care giving to many Kerrville residents until age 85.
A vibrant, out-going, classy woman, Mom never met a stranger and was an avid lover of dogs. Many of her pastimes included bargain hunting at local businesses and swimming at the Family Sports Center. Despite no training in interior decoration, Mom had a keen eye for home décor. Many people upon visiting her home felt as if they had stepped into an eclectic design studio. In later years, she attended church at the Kroc Center where she also spent time swimming and communing with other members.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Eleonore, parents, sisters and two grandsons. Although mom experienced many hardships and losses she will be remembered for her optimism, kindness, courage and joie de vivre. Momma will be greatly missed by her children, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, niece, grandniece, grandnephew, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who loved and adored her.
The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Peterson Hospice. If desired, friends may make memorial donations to Peterson Hospice of Kerrville or plant a tree in her memory. The family requests no flowers.

Eleanor was a true gem! She was my best swimming buddy at the Kroc center and we miss her terribly. I think of her often, and fondly remember all the stories she would tell me of her childhood. My thoughts and prayers go out to her whole family.

I remember meeting your mom when I would work out at the Family Sports Center. She was always friendly, loved talking to us younger ladies and gave me motivation to keep going!
Yvonne- prayers with you as I have also lost my mother here on her earth. May you be comforted by God’s blessings!

Eleonore was a long-term supporter of The Salvation Army. I first met her when I managed the Thrift Store many years ago. She came to shop but also for wonderful fellowship. Always a smile on her face and greeted everyone with a smile. Her Christian belief was always reflected in everything she did.
Recently she started attending church at the Salvation Army at the Kroc Center where her love for God was evident every Sunday morning when I greeted her at the door. In the Army we use the term " promoted to glory"!
You will never be missed. CU on at glorious day when believers are reunited.

I am saddened to learn of Ms. Eleonore's passing. We met her at the Kroc Center where she always talked to my little daughters and I. I loved her view of the world and her strong opinions. She was a gem. Our condolences to her family.
