Nathan was born on July 5, 1944, to Mattie Bell Chambers and Rodney Nathan Chambers in Beaumont, TX. After Nathan graduated from Silsbee High School, Class of 1961, at the young age of 16, he went on to study History at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX and graduated in 1965.
Upon graduation he started his first job at Buna Middle School as a Texas and American history teacher, kickstarting a 12-year career. Nathan had an infectious smile and never met a stranger and naturally began his career as a salesman. He sold plywood, hardware, plumbing parts, and cars. His work ethic, optimism, and personality helped to establish him as the top producer of every company he worked for.
In 1971, Nathan met Lynn McKelvey at a Little Theater play and they went on to marry later that year. Nathan and Lynn have 2 children, Susan and David. Nathan was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and devoted Christian.
In 2008, Nathan retired and moved from East Texas to Kerrville due to his love for the Hill Country where he spent his time hunting, reading, driving his Jeep, and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Aggies play football. Nathan was fascinated by the western author Elmer Kelton and all of his books were in Nathan's personal collection.
Nathan was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn of over 52 years; daughter, Susan Willis and her husband Michael of Boerne; son, David Chambers and his wife Elizabeth of San Angelo; and three grandchildren, Katelyn Willis of College Station and Rose and Lawson Chambers of San Angelo.
A private graveside service will be held at Garden of Memories in Kerrville.
The family requests donations be made to Peterson Hospice or the Heart Catheterization Lab at Peterson Hospital.
The family extends appreciation to Dr. Barrington, Dr. Young, Peterson Home Health, and Peterson Hospice for quality care and compassion.

Growing up as a kid, I lived next-door to Mr. and Mrs. Chambers Nathan‘s parents. On the occasions when Nathan would visit his parents, I found him most interesting. Talking about history and growing up in the late 50s and early 1960s. I know his parents were very, very proud of him as they should have been. Rest in peace.

Beautiful Obituary for such a fine, loving Christian family man. I loved his smile and sense of humor. He did love those Aggies. Nathan and Lynn I’ve known since Silsbee and taught their son, David, a fine young family man like his Dad. My thoughts and prayers and love are with Lynn and the family. Nathan is in Heaven with no pain or illness, Amen.🙏❤️

Nathan Chambers was my school bus driver in Buna many years ago. He greeted you with a smile in the morning and left you with a smile at the end of the school day. He drove a small sports car when not driving the school bus. He is one of the bright spots in my childhood memories. He was a very special man.

We will truly miss Nathan. He was so very special and a true joy to be around. We are so thankful for the times we shared with him and the memories we made during those times. As he said on his last phone call to us, “we will see you on the other side”. Thank you Lynn for your great care of our special cousin.
