Laura Stevens Navarra, 83, passed away comfortably at home on July 5, 2024 in Kerrville, TX. She was born in Trona, CA, to Coy Wright-Stevens and Randall Aaron Stevens on July 14, 1940.

Laura graduated San Fernando High School with the class of 1958. It was there that she met her lifelong friend Bonnie Wright. Laura married her first husband August ''Augie'' Brato in 1958 as well. Together they had three children: Cherilyn Brato-Cole, August ''John'' Brato and Christine Brato-Allard.

After her divorce from Augie, Laura became a beautician and worked in Panorama City and Hesperia in California. It was in her golden years that she married the love of her life Armand Navarra. They lived happily in Spring Valley Lake, CA until Armand's passing in 2007.

Laura then moved to Kerrville, TX to live near her daughters. She served as a dedicated volunteer for 6 years at Peterson Regional Medical Center. She was also a serious animal lover. From her home in the Upper Turtle Creek area, she fed the wild deer and birds but it was her devotion to feeding the abandoned and feral cats that earned her the nickname ''The Cat Lady of Turtle Creek.'' Over the years, through catch and release, Laura had more than 53 cats spayed or neutered at her own expense and she named every one of them.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents Coy and Randall Stevens; her brother, Randall Aaron Stevens, Jr.; and her husband, Armand Navarra.

Laura is survived by her three children, Cheri and her husband Doug of Kerrville, John and his wife NaLona of Harper and Chris and her husband Robert of Kerrville. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren (with two more on the way) and her beloved dog Angel.

A private memorial service will be held by the family.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors, hospital, hospice staff and all those who provided her care in her final years.
