George Edward Ricks was born to Phillip Edward Ricks and Madeline Clements Ricks on May 26, 1945. He was blessed to be one of nine children and grew up in a loving, Christian home with caring, supportive siblings who remained an integral part of his life and helped shape him into the man he became.

George was born in San Antonio, Texas and spent his early years involved in Little League baseball and soapbox derby racing. He was successful in winning acclaim in both. He set records while competing in track at Highlands High School where he graduated in 1964.

After his education, George served as a Sergeant E-5 in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Panama from 1966 through 1968, and then served two years in the Army National Guard. He took great pride in serving his country.
George then followed in his father's footsteps and joined his brothers in the wallcovering business. They were known for their work ethics and quality of work throughout Texas and other parts of the U.S. He never hesitated to brag on the quality of their work, he often said they were the BEST.

Work took him to the Rio Grande Valley where he worked on South Padre Island and other areas of the Valley. This is where he met his wife, Lynne. They were married on February 14, 1997. God blessed them with 27 years together. In 2014 they retired to Kerrville where they found First Christian Church, wonderful neighbors and many friends. God truly gave them a blessed life together.

George never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was loved by all who knew him and will be terribly missed. But, what a joy to know he is walking in heaven with Jesus who showed him great mercy when he took him to his heavenly home on July 8, 2024. He passed at home in the presence of his daughter and wife.

George was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Wade Ricks; mother, Madeline Clements Ricks; brother, Charles Harold Ricks; brother, Phillip Wesley Ricks and his wife, Nancy.

He is survived by wife, Lynne Ricks; daughter, Lea Ricks Dominy; grandchildren, Collin Dominy, Lily Dominy; siblings, Patricia Scrivano (Pete), Frank Ricks (Ora Jo), Madeline Henefy (Jack), Robert Ricks (Arlene), Rebecca Ramos (Terry), William Ricks (Cathy), Brian Ricks; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held at First Christian Church, Kerrville on Monday, July 29 at 2 p.m.

I so enjoyed visiting with George when I would take a walk and learned a lot from him about caring for the pond and fish.
I know he did much of the work in the area and would have loved to continue. He helped us out on our HOA committee and always had informative input.
I have missed running into him outside and miss learning from him about our neighborhood.
I know he now has perfect wings and has no worries.
What a generous and thoughtful man.
Love to you George.
