Stephen Edwin Schwarz passed away at his home in Kerrville on August 10, 2024. Steve was born in Abilene, moved to Kerrville and graduated from Tivy High School.

Following graduation from Lamar University he joined his parents in the road construction business and continued the operation until 2014.

He was a partner with his sister in S&S Self Storage.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Buster and Leola Norris and Max and Bertha Schwarz; parents, O.E. (Doc) and Vernitta Schwarz.

He is survived by his wife, Laurel; sons, Justin and Chad; sister, Pamela and husband, James Cann; and nephews, Christopher and Stephen Cann.

As per Steve's request, no service is planned. Just remember the camaraderie enjoyed from his favorite past times of hunting and guiding, fishing and the many rounds of golf. We will forever miss his quick wit and sense of humor.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.

Steve will be missed. I’ll also remember when I was struggling to walk to my daughter’s potbelly my daughter’s pet pig to Starkey Elementary for her class’s show-and-tell when Steve drove by, rolled down his window, and said, “Nancy Day, that is the ugliest dog I believe I’ve ever seen!” Then he offered to help.
He always made those around him laugh.

My sympathy and condolences. I met Steve in Sunday School Class at Trinity Baptist when the family moved to Kerrville maybe at 7 years old. And was at his baptism. Six of us always in the same church classes until leaving for college. And we continued to cross paths and visit up to not very many weeks ago. He mentioned a nonspecific health issue but I didn’t know it was going to be this quick. They were really good at road construction. Steve was a good friend to many.

Pam
Haven’t seen you in many years but I have been keeping up with you and Steve through Rob. I had a blast with Steve and Rob in the Abilene years. I loved your folks and miss those time dearly.
My last contact personally with Steve was in the 80’s once or twice during our trips to Mo Ranch. Phrase accept my condolences to you and your family.
