Sylvia Ann Means, 94, of Kerrville, passed away on September 24, 2024, in Houston. She was born in Seminole, Oklahoma, the only child of Thelma and Speedy on March 23, 1930. She married Ted Means on September 3, 1949, at Travis Park Methodist Church in San Antonio.
She graduated from Brackenridge High School of San Antonio in May 1947. She worked for United Services Automobile Association (now known as the financial services company USAA), Southern Pacific Railroad, the US Census Bureau, Foley's and Felt Originals. Sylvia was a devoted Christian woman, loved her several kitties over the decades, and displayed her creativity in home furnishings, sewing, new recipes, and handicrafts including knitting, tatting, beading, bargello and crewel. Her other interests included following the Dallas Cowboys, genealogy, reading, and birding.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ted.
Survivors include daughter, Martha Means and her husband William Zander; son, Mark Means; grandchild, Kimberly Means Trant and husband Jared Trant; great-grandchildren, Rosalie, Callan, and Beckett; as well as cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on October 11, 2024, at the columbarium of First United Methodist Church with Pastor David Payne officiating with inurnment following.
