Sammie A. Highsmith Sr., 78, of Kerrville, TX, passed away on October 23, 2024, in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Llano, TX to Lindsey and Vernadean (Casebolt) Highsmith on September 6, 1946. He married Linda Highsmith on December 1, 1967, in Piedras Negras, Mexico.

He worked at the Kerrville State Hospital in Information Services for 27 years. He was a veteran of Vietnam and served in the Navy.

Sammie was preceded in death by both his parents; brother, Charles Highsmith; sisters, Peggy Howell and Sherry Jackson; and grandson, Justin LaFour.

Survivors include wife, Linda (LeSaout) Highsmith; children, Carey and husband, Blane Deaton, Sammie Jr. and wife, Shelley Highsmith; brothers, Jackie and wife, Susan Highsmith, Ken and wife, Alicia Jeffers; grandchildren, Jessica and husband, Michael Martinez, Sammie Highsmith III, Ryan Highsmith, Jordan LaFour; great-granddaughter, ZoeyJane Martinez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, October 25, 2024, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Garden of Memories Cemetery with Isaac Hernandez officiating.

Memorials may be given to charities of your choice.
