Lillian Faye Cormier Harris, 91, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on October 30, 2024 in her home of 55 years in Kerrville, Texas. She was born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana to Frances Ella Brayton Cormier and Felix Cormier on September 4, 1933.

Her family moved to El Paso, Texas where Faye graduated from Austin High School. Faye attended Texas Western College in El Paso (now, University of Texas-El Paso) and majored in Journalism. Faye was Editor of the college newspaper, The Prospector. Under Faye's leadership and commitment to quality journalism, The Prospector earned 1st place in its division at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Conference in 1954-1955, an honor she held dear into her final days.

During her time at Texas Western College, Faye met the love of her life, Lavern Dale Harris. They married on December 16, 1955, in El Paso. Faye and Lavern moved to Austin, Texas while he attended the University of Texas School of Law. In 1962 they moved to Kerrville, having fallen in love with the Texas Hill Country. In 1964 they opened a law firm. They maintained a successful law practice for decades. During this time, Faye studied with her mentor, Lavern, for four years and in 1978 passed the Texas Bar Exam to earn her law license. Faye was one of the few and last to accomplish this feat having never attended law school.

Faye was fiercely independent and valued family, close friendships, graciousness and good manners, her privacy. She loved to read and write, and her daughters called her ''the walking dictionary'' because there was never a word she did not know and how to use it. She played piano and enjoyed singing and playing Christmas carols during the holidays. Faye and Lavern were devoted members of St. Paul's Methodist and First United Methodist churches of Kerrville where Faye sang in the choirs for many years.

Faye was both a force of nature and a deeply quiet spirit. She died gently and peacefully in the presence of her daughters and a beloved caregiver. As her daughter, Susan, said, ''Now, she's dancing in Heaven with Dad!''

Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years; her parents; and, her sister, Frances Claire Cormier Hidell.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Frances Harris and Jane Dayle Harris; granddaughters, Lillian Solange Beaudoin, Sarah Frances Beaudoin, Madelyn Leigh Beaudoin, and Grace Margaret Beaudoin; grandsons, Samuel Harris Mauldin and Matthew Brayton Mauldin.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to James Young, MD; the Peterson Hospice and Palliative teams; and the Right At Home team of caregivers. Each were blessings.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

My relationship to this beautiful family began as a caregiver and ended in the same capacity. However, after a short period of time we became a "well oiled machine"; a family. We couldnt have done it without he help and support of her precious daughters Jane and Susan! AMAZING women who made sure Faye had everything she needed in order to keep her safe and comfortable to the very end!
Faye was a FIRECRACKER!! I LOVED her energy and looked forward to seeing her beautiful smile every day. She was so smart and quick witted! Many times it would take me a minute or two to pick up what Faye was "throwing down"so to speak.l" She definitely kept us on our toes!
Her kindness and genuine concern for others was what stole my heart from day 1. I will miss her deeply until the day that I get to see her again. My heart goes out to all of her friends and family members!! Please be comforted in knowing she had a WONDERFUL LIFE AND A BEAUTIFUL EXIT
