Leeland Frederick Barnes, 37, died on March 24, 2025 in Kerrville, TX.

Born on October 22, 1987, in Houston, TX, Leeland grew up with an insatiable curiosity and a deep love for learning. From a young age, he amazed those around him with his intellect and enthusiasm for knowledge. He carried this passion throughout his life, becoming a walking encyclopedia who eagerly shared his insights and offered support to anyone in need.

Leeland proudly served in the United States Navy as a Sonar Technician, stationed in San Diego, CA, and then Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, HI where he met his wife, Lola. His time in the military shaped his dedication to precision and excellence-qualities that he carried into his post-military career as an automotive sales expert. Beyond his professional life, he had an enduring fascination with anything that had an engine and could often be found immersed in the mechanics of machines.

A lifelong gamer and a love for music inspired by his grandmother, Leeland's playlist was as eclectic as his interests-you never knew what song would play next. His love for discovery extended beyond books and technology; it was evident in the way he connected with people. He never hesitated to offer a helping hand, words of encouragement, or simply be there when someone needed him most.

Leeland was a devoted husband to his wife, Lola Barnes; a loving father to his son, Jacob Barnes and daughter, Jadice Barnes; and a cherished grandson to Clarice Barnes Amann, who raised him. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Richard Barnes; mother, Carla Barnes Gann; and uncle, Gregory Barnes. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service will be held on March 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church Kerrville, located at 800 Jefferson St., Kerrville, TX 78028. All are welcome to attend, with a reception to follow.

Leeland touched countless lives with his kindness and generosity. His memory will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved him.

We knew Leeland as a delightful little boy who made you smile just being near him. Skinny and eloquent, it is such a loss. He is and will be remembered with a tear and a smile. Peace to the family.
