She was born on March 12, 1928, and lived a life marked by faith, and devotion to family and friends
On January 28, 1949, Frances married Bill Brown, in Galena Park, Texas. They shared 50 wonderful years together until his passing on October 16, 2000. Their marriage was a testimony of commitment and faithfulness.
Bill and Frances retired from the Houston area and made Kerrville their home in 1988. They built their dream home and spent many wonderful years as a part of the community they loved.
Frances was a longtime English and Reading teacher. After her retirement in 1986, she spent the next 25 years continuing her calling as an educator - teaching GED classes, reading classes, prison education programs, and Sunday School at Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville. Her love for learning and her desire to help others never faded.
Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Brown, and by her sons, Paul Brown and Richard Brown.
She is lovingly survived by her son, Rodney Brown and wife Christy of Panhandle, Texas; and her son, Rusty Brown and wife Bonnie of Lafayette, Louisiana.
She is also cherished by her grandchildren: Melissa (Erik), Allison (Tanner), Russ (Erin), and Will Brown; and by her great-grandchildren: Nathaniel Hostetter, Rachel Hostetter, Reagan Mitchell, Lauren Mitchell, Charlee Mitchell, and Liam Brown.
A funeral service honoring Frances's life will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels on Saturday, January 10, 2026. Family and friends are invited to visitation and greetings beginning at 9:00 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. She will be buried with her husband at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
The Brown family wants to thank the Plaza on the River in Kerrville, Three Forks Retirement Home in Forney, TX and Park Central Moore and Ware facilities in Amarillo, TX for the love and care they've provided to Frances over the last 12 years.
''We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.'' - 2 Corinthians 5:8

Rod and family, I m so sorry for your loss, bittersweet. Rejoicing she’s with Jesus but sad also as I know she will be missed . May you find comfort and peace in God’s presence and promises. Wish I could have been there Saturday to hug y’all and sweet Allison. Prayers as you navigate all you have to tend to with her passing. Love Denise LeMeilleur

My friend since 2005. I will truly miss Frances. The thought of writing her a note came to me a few days ago.... I'll have to get use to her not being here. But we know that she is in a much better place, in Paradise...... Frances was a Faithful servant... a true Believer! My sympathies to Frances' family.

Miss Frances was a wonderful inspiration to me about my faith. Every morning I would go to her room she always greeted me with that beautiful smile of hers . Thank you for the time she spent with us here at Moore Assisted Living. You will be greatly missed but one day we will meet again.
