John Wesley Taylor (Jay W), 87, of Harper, Texas, passed away peacefully February 15, 2026, at home in Harper, Texas. He was born November 12, 1938, to Charly and Nettie Mae Taylor. He married Charlene Bogusch on July 18, 1954.

For many years, he worked as a lineman and later was employed by CTEC and a foreman for LCRA.

He had a passion for family history and became a member of The Republic of Texas and Former Texas Ranger Association. His love for nature and the outdoors was evident in his hobbies which included ranching, hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; sisters, Lula and Zula; and grandson, Ryan.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene: sons, Tommy, Tim and wife Pat, Richard and wife Lorey, Lewis and wife Beckie; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; as well as a niece and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Harper Cemetery, officiated by Johnny Long.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
