Kathryn Jeanette Chapman
10/10/1933 - 12/5/2023

On December 5, 2023, Kathryn Jeanette Chapman, gained her angel wings. She passed away in Bandera, Texas, where she had moved a few years earlier with her husband, to be closer to her family. She was born on October 10, 1933, in Kerrville, Texas, to William and Ella Unnasch and had one brother, Lloyd Unnasch.

She attended schools in Kerrville and on April 16, 1955, she married Glen Chapman of Ballinger, Texas, having met him when they both attended Schreiner College. She was devoted to him, making sure he had something sweet to eat after her home cooked meals and watching endless football, basketball and baseball games and golf tournaments with him. She got him involved in her church, Zion Lutheran, where she taught Sunday School for 50 years. They had a daughter, Glenda, and a son, Bill, whom she loved with all her heart. In time, she began an almost 30-year career as an elementary school secretary for KISD, where she doted on the students, and was remembered by many, well after she had retired. And nothing brought her more joy than her three granddaughters whom she loved to spoil, having them spend many summers at "Mimi's" house.

Her greatest gift to all her family and friends was her faithfulness and service to her God. She collected "angels", loved Christmas and cooking for her family. She was a good friend of so many, her church ladies, former teachers she had worked with and neighbors that she loved so much.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Chapman; her parents; and her brother. Survivors include daughter, Glenda Chapman Adamietz of Bandera, Texas; son, William (Bill) S. Chapman and Julie Freitag of Ft. Meyers, Florida; granddaughters, Meghan Fazio and husband Josh Fazio of Bandera, Texas, Sydney Krackau and husband Eben Krackau of San Antonio, Texas and Hillary Adamietz of San Antonio, Texas; great-grandchildren, Bella Fazio, Brilee Fazio and Brodie Fazio of Bandera, Texas and Quorra Krackau and Yadin Krackau of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by her cousins, Bette Schwarz and husband, Doug Schwarz of Richardson, Texas and Henry Niehaus and wife, Nancy Niehaus of Austin, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5 pm to 7 pm, Monday, December 11th at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, December 12th at Zion Lutheran Church, in Kerrville, Texas. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Peterson Regional Medical Center and Peterson Hospice in Kerrville, Texas. And a very heartfelt thank you to Beatrice Callaway, who cared for our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with such love and kindness, you were truly her angel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Zion Lutheran Sunday School fund or a charity of one’s choice.
