Jackie Mallernee Spangler
8/11/1949 - 7/24/2024

Jackie Mallernee Spangler was born to Lou and Jane (Zeedyk) Mallernee in Battle Creek, Michigan on August 11, 1949. Her spirit was ushered into Heaven on July 24, 2024, in Kerrville, Texas.

As a child, Jackie and her family lived in many interesting places due to her father’s service in the military, including El Paso, Japan, and Long Island, before settling in South Houston.

Jackie earned her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas and Master’s degree at the University of Houston and began a 33-year career teaching Special Education.

In 1987, Jackie moved to Kerrville where she taught 15 years of Special Education at Tom Daniels Elementary before retiring in 2002.

She married the love of her life – David, her babe – in 1996, gaining two children, Jason and Sallye, sharing in the joy of their marriages and the grandchildren she and David were blessed with.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Lou and Jane Mallernee, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Survivors include her husband, David; son Jason, Laura, Aubrey, Eli; daughter Sallye, Aaron, Kristina, Gracie; brother Mike, Matthew, Bobby (and families); brother Bruce, Louie, Jamie (and families); and many cherished cousins and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army.
