Helen Lorraine Puccini

Helen Lorraine Puccini, of Kerrville, TX, passed away on October 11, 2024. She was 88 years old. Helen was born in Grand Rapids, MI to Ryn and Wilma Visser on June 5, 1936. She married Terry Bishop Puccini, US Air Force, on August 17, 1968, in San Francisco, CA. Both were stationed at Travis Air Force Base.

Helen graduated from Rockford High School, Grand Rapids, MI., and then Blodgett Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She served in the U.S. Air Force as a nurse and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.

Helen accompanied Terry when he was stationed to Japan where their two children, Cynthia and Matt were born. The family relocated to Kerrville in 1972 when Terry retired from the Air Force. Helen continued her career as a school nurse, and then a neurology nurse.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Puccini. She was also preceded by her brother, Sid Visser; her sister, Angie Miller; and her brother, Charles Visser.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Haworth and her husband Andrew; her son, Matthew Puccini, his wife Shanti, and their children, Andrew and Renata; sister, Joanne Lundin and husband Roger; brother, Ryan Visser and wife Ellen; sister, Phyllis Lawton and husband Bruce; and sister-in-law, Carol Visser.

Helen was a wonderful and beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. Her grandchildren called her “Mimi.” She was a true prayer warrior. She was involved with the wellbeing of her neighbors and community. She volunteered as a mentor for children to help them succeed in school.

She was deeply dedicated to Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville. She taught Sunday school, led Bible Study and Women’s Groups, and sang in the choir for decades.

Helen loved staying active. She was a passionate and formidable racquetball player into her 80’s, winning many tournaments, ranking in the Senior Olympics, and making legions of racquetball friends. She was an avid, graceful swimmer and could be found most early mornings turning laps in the pool. She delighted in all table games—but especially Rook and Mexican Train.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am November 1, 2024, at Trinity Baptist Church, Kerrville, TX, officiated by Pastor John Wheat. A reception will follow, as a time of fellowship and remembering.
