Bernard C. Murray Jr.

Bernard C. “Barney” Murray, Jr., age 92, entered into peace on March 4, 2025. Barney was born July 5, 1932, in Kansas City, MO. He was the son of Bernard C. Murray and Elizabeth Dimick.
The family moved to Houston in 1948. Barney was a graduate of St. Thomas High School and the University of Houston with a BBA in marketing.
He joined the USMCR in 1949 and served with the 7th Marines in Korea.
In 1953, Barney married his high school sweetheart, Eleanor Owens.
He started his sales career with Champion Spark Plug Co. in 1956 and retired from Cooper Automotive in 1995.
After retirement, he and Eleanor moved to Ingram. Eleanor had been coming to the Hill Country since the 1940s and loved the area.
Barney was an active member of Notre Dame Catholic Church. He was a longtime volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul. He played softball for many years in the Houston and Kerrville areas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Eleanor, his beloved wife of 55 years; son, Bill Murray; and daughter, Cheryl Garihan.
He is survived by four sons; two sisters; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be 6 PM, Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.
Mass will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
