James George Martin passed to his Creator on November 19, 2015, in Kerrville, Texas. Jim was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 23, 1936, going on to faithfully serve his country as a United States Marine and later retiring from the United States Air Force both military and civilian.\r\n \r\nA pioneer on the first big computers, over 30 years in information technology Jim worked on applications for accounting and finance, mobilization of guard units, withdrawal from Vietnam, reserve personnel management, security assistance, land and resource management (water, oil, gas), retiring as chief of software for a space satellite site of Space Command in Colorado.\r\n \r\nAn Irish, Catholic, Jim didn't know a stranger, holding a genuine interest in others and their lives. He loved his travels around the world, cars, and modeling airplanes. Jim shared heartfelt companionship with his "Ruffles" dogs. Through his life he quietly and with great strength faced many challenges known to few with a charming kindness and caring.\r\n \r\nDearly loved, Jim is survived by his wife Diana of 47 years, and from Wisconsin his son Ed, grandchildren Eric, Kile, and Samantha, and twin great grandsons Jaxon and Blake, and his sister Gerry Foster of Massachusetts. Predeceasing Jim were his Mom and Dad, Sally and Edwin Martin of Framingham, Massachusetts, brother Frank of Florida, and sister Maureen of Colorado.\r\n \r\nMemorial Mass will be Tuesday, December 1, 2015, 9:30 AM at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville. Inurnment will be in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 9:30 AM.\r\n \r\nMemorial offerings suggested as donor choice or the American Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).\r\n
