Martha Ardelle Brown was born September 13, 1932 in Houston, Texas and departed from this life on Thursday, November 23, 2017 in Kerrville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Otis Brown and Amelia Prevost Schirmer Brown. She leaves behind many cousins and friends.\r\n \r\nMartha was brought up in Houston, Texas and graduated from Lamar High School in 1948 with honors. For two years she attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia and received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Houston in 1952. In 1960, she received her Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago, and in 1971, at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, she received her Doctor of Philosophy.\r\n \r\nIn her twenty years of teaching, she was a teaching assistant, instructor, and associate professor. She taught graduate and undergraduate courses at the University of Texas at Austin, Stephen F. Austin State University, Sul Ross State University, Angelo State University and McNeese State University. She published many articles in professional magazines and received an Outstanding Teacher Award in 1985 in the College of Business at McNeese State University.\r\n \r\nIn 1988, Martha retired to Kerrville, a town she grew to love. After selling her home there in 2005, she became a resident of Brookdale. She has been active and very supportive of the Friendship Bible Church during her years in Kerrville. Her interests also include music, lay renewal in the Christian community, politics, TV detective shows, and needlework.\r\n \r\nA service will be held at 10 AM, Friday, December 1, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville. Her interment will follow in Houston, Texas at Eldridge Memorial Oaks at 13001 Katy Highway at 1 PM, Monday, December 4, 2017. \r\n
