James “Steve” Golemon, 77, of Llano, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 in Round Rock.

He was born in Houston on October 2, 1944 to William Layton Golemon Sr. and Avis Bogle Golemon. He married Myra Thurman on February 3, 1968 in Kerrville.

Steve graduated from Tivy High School, class of 1963. He coached high school championship cross country and track teams in Texas. He was a strong, Christian man.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Layton Golemon Jr.; and daughter, Mendi Tre Golemon.

Survivors include his wife, Myra Golemon of Llano; two children, Thurman Golemon of Stephenville and Alisa Kaye Owens of San Antonio; brother, Ronald Kinnan Golemon and Jacqueline B. Golemon of Austin; and one grandchild, McKenzie Owens of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Patricia McHam and spouse James McHam of Burnet; sister-in-law, Nancy Rees and spouse David Rees of Center Point; sister-in-law, Jeanne Loya and David Loya of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Harriet Golemon of Katy, TX; and brother-in-law, Vernon Thurman, Jr. and Elaine Thurman of Granite Shoals.

Services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Riverside Church of Christ, officiated by Mr. Martin Smith. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville.

Pallbearers will be Luke Sheets, Culley Doyle, Will Reid, David Horner, Dan Aldrich, Karl McCormick, Keith Williams and Beau Burnett.

Easy to say he was the best coach in the world; one that pushed you to your highest potential and loved you like family. To this day, I can't go on a run without hearing his voice in my head! I'll miss him dearly and cherish the memories forever."
