John L. Trott passed peacefully on October 7, 2022. He was born in Stacy, TX April 10, 1932.
At the age of 14, he chose his Catholic faith. With the support of foster parents, he attended Cathedral Prep High School, Erie, PA.
He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict and returned to Erie in September 1952.
He wed Rita on May 23, 1953 and having reentered the USAF, began their lives together in Anchorage, AK. Their first son, Mark, was born there. Stephen was born in Geneva, NY and daughter, Susan, born in Erie, PA. Multiple assignments took the family to New York, Texas, Florida and Pennsylvania while John served in Saudi Arabia; Washington; Great Britain; Nebraska and Connecticut, where he retired and son, Christopher, was born in 1971. He had a ten year career in the direct mail printing industry.
Kerrville became home in August, 1981. The family became active members of Notre Dame Catholic Church. John sang in the choir, served as a lector, reader, Eucharistic Minister, and the Knights of Columbus. He had a barbershop on Water Street. Son, Stephen, worked with him till John retired in 1994. He and Rita were blessed to travel and visit on short stays or extended stays over 30 countries and 50 states.
John leaves behind his beloved wife of 69-plus years, Rita; daughter, Mrs. Bill Godfrey (Susan); grandsons, Jonathan and James Trott; and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sons, Mark, Stephen and Christopher.
His is a void no one can fill and he leaves with our everlasting love.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM, Friday, October 14, 2022 at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
