Gainerd Gray McNeely left this world on October 14, 2022 in Kerrville, TX. Gainerd was born to Arlie and Goldie McNeely in New Home, TX on June 25, 1937. He attended Tahoka schools and graduated in 1955. After serving in Korea, he returned to the Tahoka area taking a job with GTE. He retired from GTE in 1996 and resided in Brownfield until 2016 when he married LaRhea (Greathouse) Smith. They lived in Texas until they moved to Gilbert, AZ in 2022.
He enjoyed woodworking as well as playing the harmonica and played in a small band in Brownfield.
Gainerd, called Mac in his adult life, is survived by his wife, LaRhea; daughter, Merry (Randy) Myers of Mifflintown, PA; son, Tal (Debbie) of San Antonio; and daughter, Kimberly (Garry) Nadebaum of Kerrville. He is also survived by a brother, Dwayne of Tahoka and sister, Carla (Rusty) Pickens of Burleson, TX. Other survivors include grandchildren, Mike, Dan, Josh, Charlcey, Kaylei, Taryn and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Douglas.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
