Olan F. Mahlmann, 83, of Kerrville, passed away on February 13, 2023, peacefully at home. He was born in Brenham, Texas to Walter and Mildred Mahlmann on June 26, 1939. He married Kay Zschech on September 5, 1959, in Dime Box, Texas.
He went to school in Caldwell, Texas, and graduated from Texas A&M University, and also received a master's degree from UTSA. He worked as a math teacher for KISD at Peterson Middle School for 33 years.
After retirement he volunteered at St. Vincent dePaul for 20 years and served as President for 6 of those years overseeing the opening of the St. Vincent dePauI Thrift Store.
Olan was also awarded the Benemerenti Medal by Pope John Paul Il in 2004. This was awarded for service to the Church.
He was a devoted family man; he loved his wife, kids, and grandkids. He also was an avid gardener and loved to fish, hunt, and do woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mildred Mahlmann; brother, Don Mahlmann; and father and mother-in-law, Lewis and Elenora Zschech.
Olan was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kay Mahlmann; children, Deborah Ramirez (Art), Steven Mahlmann (Lori) and Raelynn Stolowski (Mike); brother, Dennis Mahlmann (Rosemary); sister-in-law, Margie Mahlmann; brother-in-law, Larry Zschech (Marilyn); his grandsons, Jacob Mahlmann (Christen) and Trent Stolowski; and granddaughters, Jessica Ramirez (Phil), Kayla Jarzombek (Edward) and Kacie Aniol (Frank). He also has 2 great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Kollyns Jarzombek. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. His loyal dog, Henry, was always by his side.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 pm, Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Grimes Funeral Chapels and the Rosary will begin at 6:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Friday, February 24, 2023, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 944 Water St., Kerrville, TX. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.
Memorials may be given to St. Vincent dePaul Society, 1145 Broadway, Kerrville, TX 78028.
