Myra J. Young Hardee went home to be with her Heavenly Father, Saturday, October 27, 2012. She was born February 17, 1944, the fourth child of Melvin Young, Sr. and Frances Gaines Young in Georgetown, Texas. She moved to Kerrville and was united in marriage to Ralph Hardee in 1959. To this union, two children were born; a daughter, Ingrid Hardee and a son, Marty Hardee.
Myra attended Carver School in Georgetown, St. Peter Claver Catholic School in San Antonio, Doyle School and the Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Kerrville to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse of the State of Texas. Through the years she was known and respected as a very skillfully compassionate nurse. Her years of employment were with Sid Peterson Hospital, Kerrville State Hospital and the Kerrville Veteran's Administration Hospital. She united with Barnett Chapel United Methodist Church and remained active until her death. She was a member of the Doyle Exes Association.
She was preceded in death by both parents, Melvin Young Sr. and Frances Young; two infant brothers, Douglas Young and Jackie Clayton Young.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Ralph Hardee; a loving daughter, Ingrid Hardee from Decatur, Georgia; a loving son, Marty Hardee and wife, Rhonda from Dallas, Texas. Other loving relatives include a sister, JoAnn Young Rhodes; brother, Melvin Young, Jr. both from San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, April Hardee from Dallas and Brian Hardee from Fort Worth, Texas; two great grandchildren, DeMarzai and DeVonte' Spencer; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2012, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, with the Rev. Allen Noah officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories North.
Memorials may be given to Barnett Chapel United Methodist Church or Peterson Hospice.
