"My mom was always my best friend. She said she prayed for a daughter when she was pregnant (nine months, and one day after she was ) before the days of gender reveals. We knew everything about each other. Although she didn’t deal with things maybe the way she should’ve she did the best she could. She said she never wanted to pygmies (in reference to the relatives of her granddaughter’s mother) on her property and I made sure of that. All her friends knew about that comment and her cousin Irene everyone we all laughed about it. We couldn’t control her. She always said people might underestimate me regarding her care, but we were always one step ahead and I’m glad she spent the last five weeks of our life with me. We laughed and even went to dinner the night before she passed away. My life will never be the same."
