He then moved to Big Spring, TX, where he practiced anesthesia until 2005. In 2005, he moved to Kerrville, where he continued to practice anesthesia until he retired at the age of 70.

Skip was preceded in death by his parents; a newborn sister, Mary Margaret who passed away shortly after birth; and an exceptional friend, Dr. Anand Mehendale.

Skip was a lover of the great outdoors and enjoyed countless hours of water skiing, scuba diving, snow skiing, horseback riding, freshwater fishing, and bird hunting. He was an impressive marksman, a natural general aviation pilot, and an avid reader, especially of history.

A private family celebration of Skip's incredible life will be held at a later date.

"Dr. Bonnie, I've know about Skip's passing for a long while, but I don't know any way of contacting you except through here. The favorite days of my career are the ones I spent working with the two of you. You were kind, generous, inspiring, and willing to share your knowledge and expertise... characteristics that are to often lacking in the medical field where we should all be compassionate. Skip was a great man in many aspects, but most especially he was a great human being. My heart breaks for your loss. You are loved."

"We just learned of the passing of this good man. We flew together, operated together, and hunted together. He was so very trustworthy and competent in everything he did. He loved his Bonnie and their family. Skip had a great mind and a huge heart."

"Just saw this Bonnie, we are devestated! We dont get the paper or have an avenue to this information usually. Anna and I both love you two dearly. Always thought of you two as way above our social level but thought of you as the kind of people we would most wish to be like. Im so sorry Bonnie, carry him close and always picture him in heaven, waiting for his other half. With so much love and respect, Anna and Bubba Kelly"
