Clarence “Rat” Benson, 89, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away March 31, 2024 in Kerrville. He was born April 3, 1934 in Comfort, Texas to Bennie and Mamie Benson. He married Ruby Harrison in Austin, Texas.
Clarence went to school in Comfort and at Doyle in Kerrville. He worked in maintenance for the Kerrville State Hospital and retired after 33 years.
He was preceded in death by wife, Ruby; daughter, Gwendolyn Jackson; sons, Nathan “Nate” Benson and Augusta “Gus” Benson.
Survivors include daughter, Cynthia Benson Skeins; grandchildren, Jermaine Rodriguez, Coty Watson, Trina Rodriguez, Monique Jackson, Christopher Rodriguez, Tierra Adams, Mendell and Marcell Jackson; 22 great-grandchildren; and very special daughter-in-law, Sylvie Rodriguez.
A private family burial will be held.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
