Kathy Elizabeth Johnson of Kerrville, Texas, was born on January 25, 1952, to W.T. “Bill” Sellman and Odell Kay Sellman in Baytown, Texas. Known by her loved ones as Oma, she passed away in the early morning hours on November 2, 2024, at the age of 72, surrounded by her family.

Kathy was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, known for her warm heart and unwavering spirit. Throughout her life, she touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion. An active member of her community, she was always willing to lend a helping hand and share her infectious laughter.

Kathy married the love of her life, Gerald Johnson, Sr., on December 11, 1971, in Houston, Texas, after a very short engagement. They celebrated 50 wonderful years together before Gerald’s passing in 2022. A testament to the deep bond they shared. Together, they raised two sons, Gerald Johnson Jr. and Matthew Johnson. Both sons grew up to be in law enforcement.

Kathy graduated from Milby High School in 1970 and retired from the Kerr County Central Appraisal District in 2021.

She is survived by her son, Gerald Johnson Jr., and his wife Elizabeth; daughter-in-law, Shelli Johnson; sister, Colleen Meadows; grandsons, William “Seth” Johnson, Tyler and Caleb Tippit, Gavin Vandegrift and his wife Heritage; and great-grandchildren, Errin Johnson, Kohen Tippit, Grayson, Brody, Noelle Vandegrift, and Eden Stewart, all of whom will cherish her memory and carry on her legacy of love.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald Johnson, Sr.; and son, Matthew Johnson.

Kathy will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her vibrant spirit and the love she shared with all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville.
