Kenneth Wayne (Ken) Whitewood, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, November 17, 2024, at New Haven Memory Care in Kerrville, TX.

Born on October 2, 1934, in Harper, Texas to Fred and Edith Brown Whitewood. He graduated from Harper High School and went on to attend Southwest Texas State University. On December 20, 1957, he married his better half, Evelyn Marjane (Janie) Whitewood. Ken worked in the animal health industry for many years. Alongside his wife and son, Ken owned and operated Lemon Tree Cleaners for 20 + years. In his retirement years, he furnished top quality replacement heifers for other cattlemen on his farm in Center Point and his ranch in Menard. He was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church.

Ken (Grandpa) never met a stranger. He would greet every lady he met with a hat off and a “how are you, pretty lady”. He enjoyed a rare steak, a margarita, a stamped shirt, a pair (or 12) of handmade boots, and a good nap in his recliner.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Edith Brown Whitewood and siblings, Madge Dees, Fred Jr Whitewood, and Brown Whitewood.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Janie Whitewood; sons, Todd Whitewood (Serena) and Randy MacNaughton (Kim); grandchildren, Whitley Whitewood Fisher (Forrest), Scott MacNaughton, Shelby Skierski (Kyle), Stacy Spillman (JC), Travis Stehling, Emily Terranova (Jake), Ashley Montague; great grandchildren, Ford James Fisher, Karson and Keagan Skierski, Stanton and Sutton Spillman, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, officiated by Rev. David Payne.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Lucy Ramel, Andrea Barnett at Peterson Medical, Andrea Honeycutt and staff at New Haven Memory Care, and Peterson Health Hospice.

"Deepest condolences to the family, I did not hear of Mr. Whitewood’s service till it was past. Mr Whitewood was a big part of the hill country & livestock industry.
And a great sense of humor.
