Dewey Smith Stephens, 92, of Comfort, Texas, passed away on January 13, 2025, in Comfort. He was born in Driscoll, Texas to Charlie Aaron Stephens and Alma Lottie Rose on August 5, 1932. He married Shirley Ann McCormick on May 22, 1954, in Bent Creek, Virginia.

He attended Texas State College in 1951 and worked in Marine-Industrial Sales for 32 years. He was enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Alaska while building radar systems during the Korean War. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Kerrville, Texas and attended the Comfort Baptist Church.

Dewey Stephens was preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley Ann Stephens and his eldest daughter Debra Jo Ridge.

Survivors include Daughter Sherri Lynne Stephens Ancira, Gilbert Ancira, Husband, of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, Son Dewey Mark Stephens, Irene Stephens, Wife, of Alice, Texas, Daughter Melanie Anne Stephens, Steve Giorlando, Partner, of San Antonio, Texas, Granddaughters Jade Sterling Young, of Georgetown, Texas and Heather Ann Stephens, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Cousin Cathy Beene, of Kerrville, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, March 24th, 2025, at Ft. Sam Cemetery. Burial will follow at Ft. Sam with full military honors.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the nurses at DaVita Dialysis, Crest Home Care and Alamo Hospice as well as the thoughtful members of the Comfort Baptist Church. Much love to our dear friend Sharon Reese. The enduring love, compassion and caring from everyone touched our hearts and will never be forgotten.
